Topwater Baits

Jigs are a staple in bass fishing. They are usually large hooks with colored strings,called skirts, usually made out of rubber.

Trailers, made out of soft plastics, are attatched onto the back of jigs to make them more attractive to fish. For more on soft plastics, look here. Good times to use Topwater

• Early morning or late evening, when the light levels are low
• In the middle of the summer when bass are more agile and energetic
• In shallow areas, where the animals on topwater may be present, such as frogs and small birds
